Abstract
This study aims to analyze the impact of poverty and economic growth on the Human Development Index (HDI) in Central Java. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach, utilizing a census technique for cross-sectional data and purposive sampling for time series data. The sample consists of 35 districts/cities in Central Java. Data analysis was conducted using panel regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results indicate that poverty has a significant negative effect on the HDI, with a significance value of 0.0000 < 0.05, contributing 30.7% to the HDI. Economic growth has a significant positive effect on the HDI, with a significance value of 0.0021 < 0.05, contributing 1.13%. Overall, poverty and economic growth have a significant effect on the HDI, with a significance value of 0.00000 and an Adjusted R-Square of 0.505814, indicating a total influence of 50.58%, while the remaining 49.42% is affected by other factors not examined in this study. This study supports Ibn Khaldun’s view that justice and sound economic policies improve the HDI.
