Abstract

SMK Syubbanul Wathon is an Islamic boarding school-based educational institution in Magelang that is committed to improving the quality of education for students, producing superior students, able to compete in technology. The form of innovation carried out to face this challenge is by using the Blue Ocean Strategy as one part of the business strategy process. This study explores the implementation of the Blue Ocean strategy at SMK Syubbanul Wathon Magelang to understand the impact of this strategy on school quality. The type of research used is qualitative research. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Blue Ocean strategy at the school has had a significant positive impact. Starting with identifying a SWOT analysis then carrying out the principle of four work steps, namely 1) Eliminate competitive factors, based on this analysis no factors are eliminated because they have an impact on school quality, 2) Reduce, in this case it is not necessary to reduce competitive factors because they affect the quality of the school and other stakeholders, 3) Raise, increasing competitive factors will help develop technology-based programs that are relevant to current needs, 4) Create, the final step is creating several superior programs so as to create new value and differentiate themselves from other Islamic boarding school-based schools.
