This article examines student ethics from the perspective of Qur’an Surah Al-A’raf verses 204–205 using a tafsir tarbawi approach. This study employs a library research method by analyzing classical and contemporary Qur’anic commentaries, such as Tafsir Ibn Kathir and Tafsir Al-Misbah, along with relevant literature on Islamic education. The findings indicate that Surah Al-A’raf verses 204–205 not only regulate the etiquette of listening to the recitation of the Qur’an but also contain pedagogical principles relevant to student learning ethics, including attentiveness, calmness, humility, and spiritual readiness in receiving knowledge. The asbāb al-nuzūl of these verses further emphasizes that ethical conduct is a fundamental foundation in the educational process prior to the transfer of knowledge. These findings affirm the importance of integrating Qur’anic values into Islamic education to develop knowledgeable, ethical, and well-characterized students.
