Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of the Talking Stick learning model in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subject on the learning activity of class IV students at SD Negeri 1 Kalijoyo. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with observational data collection techniques (direct observation), interviews and documentations. The research subjects were Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, researchers and 20 class IV students. The research results showed and increase in student learning activity from 44% in the pre-cycle to 73,75% after implementing the Talking Stick model in cycle 1. This increase in students’ active participation in learning, such as paying attention to teacher’s explanation, asking questions, answering questions and work together in group discussions. Even though there are several aspects that still need to be improved, overall the implementation of the Talking Stick model has proven to be effective in increasing student learning activity in PAI subjects, especially in the material Building Brothers an Sisters. This research concludes that the Talking Stick learning model can be a good alternative and enjoyable learning atmosphere at the elementary school level.
