THE CULTURAL AND RELIGIOUS RELATIONSHIP IN THE TRADITION OF "SELAMETAN BUMI" IN MADURETNO VILLAGE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF AL-MARAGHI'S INTERPRETATION.

Abstract

Selametan Bumi is a form of gratitude expression practiced by the community of Maduretno Village, Buluspesantren Sub-district, Kebumen Regency, Central Java. This study aims to explore the practice of Selametan Bumi in the village and analyze it from the perspective of Al-Maraghi's tafsir. The research employs the tahlili method, a Qur'anic interpretation approach that explains various aspects of the Qur'an in detail based on the sequential order of the surahs (tartib as-surah). This includes an in-depth analysis of the content of verses and surahs. The study adopts a library research approach, collecting literature data and complementing it with field interviews to support the analysis. The findings reveal that the Selametan Bumi tradition in Maduretno Village involves communal prayers held in a mushola (prayer room) through the recitation of tahlil prayers. These prayers are dedicated to deceased ancestors, particularly those who served as village leaders or caretakers. The event continues with the "throwing sambal goak" ritual and concludes with a closing prayer. This tradition is preserved as an effort to sustain Indonesia's cultural heritage.
