This study aims to analyse the influence of social media platform selection and social media usage intensity on the academic communication skills of KPI IAINU Kebumen students from the 2021-2024 cohort. The method used is multiple linear regression with data collected through a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. The analysis results indicate that the selection of social media platforms significantly influences academic communication skills (p = 0.042), while the intensity of social media use does not significantly influence academic communication skills (p = 0.956). Simultaneous testing also shows that both variables do not have a significant influence together (p = 0.117). These findings suggest that students should be more selective in choosing social media platforms that support academic activities. This study is expected to serve as a reference for students and educators in understanding the relationship between social media and academic communication skills.
